Q: Should a person have read the entire Bible thoroughly before even considering to get baptized?

A:  While it is not necessary to a person to have read the entire Bible before becoming a Christian and "qualifying" for baptism, it is important for one to have that goal in reading and studying the Scriptures.

A person getting baptized should have:
  • an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ that is maturing through the spiritual disciplines of reading scripture, prayer, worship, fellowship and serving
  • an understanding and conviction of who Jesus Christ is and how He died for us on the cross to deliver us from our sins
  • a desire to rise above sin through the power of Jesus Christ; all the while understanding we are sinful and the need to rely on God
